Curbside Service is now available! Here’s how it works:

The first step is to place your order using one of the following methods:

  • Visit our website and select “Books, Movies, and More” from the menu, then Catalog.  Detailed instructions for how to place a hold including a video can be found here.
  • Email your list to us at newfieldlibrary@gmail.com
  • Call us at 607-564-3594 Monday through Thursday 9 am – 5 pm and Friday 9 am till Noon

Starting July 20 the interlibrary loan delivery service among member Finger Lakes Libraries is available again! Please note that we are currently receiving deliveries only once a week (Tuesdays). Any holds you place will be quarantined at the FLLS offices for at least 96 hours before they are shipped to us.

Looking for ideas?  We will be displaying many of our new items in the front window for you to browse.

As we prepare your order you may receive email or text notifications that your hold request is ready and that someone will be contacting you.  Once your order is ready we will contact you to schedule a pickup during one of the following times:

  • Mon 10:00 am-Noon, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Tue and Wed 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Thu 2:00 pm-6:30 pm

We are happy to make special arrangements if these times do not work for you.

On the day of your scheduled pickup time you may receive email or text notification that your items have been checked out.  When you arrive at the scheduled time you should call 607-564-3594 from your vehicle or the sidewalk if you walked.  If you do not have a cell phone you can knock on the door and someone will assist you.  Please open your trunk or door so a staff member can place your bag in your vehicle.  You may be asked to show your library card or driver’s license to confirm your identity.

If you bring items to return at the same time they must be placed in the book drop at the door.  Please do not hand items to staff. Please note that returned items will be quarantined for 96 hours and will continue to show up on your account during that time until they are checked in.

Library staff will be wearing masks and we request that you wear a mask since maintaining a social distance of at least 6′ may not be possible during pickup.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us.  Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you!

FAQs:

Is the library building open?

No, the library building will not be open to the public during curbside pickup hours.

Are library materials safe?

NPL is following safety guidelines set forth by the American Library Association. Items are quarantined for 96 hours and our staff wears gloves and masks when handling library materials.

Can I return items when I pickup my order?

Sure. In fact, we’d love for you to return items in a timely fashion so others can enjoy them. (Especially since they must be quarantined for 96 hours before they are available again.) However, items can only be returned at the book drop in the door. Please do not hand items to staff.

Can I order books from other libraries?

Yes! As of July 20 interlibrary loan delivery within the Finger Lakes Library System is up and running. Many thanks to all the folks who made this possible, especially Tom our delivery driver!
