We’ve expanded our hours for September. In addition to curbside service, we are also taking appointments for in-person browsing and computer use on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Please note we only have one computer open to the public at this time.

  • Monday 2 pm to 5 pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 am to Noon; 2 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Friday and Saturday 10 am to Noon

Appointments are necessary for both curbside pickup and in-person visits. Call us at 564-3594 or email us at newfieldlibrary@gmail.com

Curbside Service is still available! Here’s how it works:

The first step is to place your order using one of the following methods:

  • Visit our website and select “Books, Movies, and More” from the menu, then Catalog.  Detailed instructions for how to place a hold including a video can be found here.
  • Email your list to us at newfieldlibrary@gmail.com
  • Call us at 607-564-3594 during our open hours.

As of July 20 the inter-library loan delivery service among member Finger Lakes Libraries is available again! Since the week of Aug 17 we have been receiving deliveries on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Any holds you place will be quarantined at the FLLS offices for at least 96 hours before they are shipped to us.

Looking for ideas?  We will be displaying many of our new items in the front window for you to browse.

As we prepare your order you may receive email or text notifications that your hold request is ready. Please call the library at 607-564-3594 to schedule a pickup during our open hours.

We are happy to make special arrangements if these times do not work for you.

On the day of your scheduled pickup time you may receive email or text notification that your items have been checked out.  When you arrive at the scheduled time you should call 607-564-3594 from your vehicle or the sidewalk if you walked.  If you do not have a cell phone you can knock on the door and someone will assist you.  Please open your trunk or door so a staff member can place your bag in your vehicle.  You may be asked to show your library card or driver’s license to confirm your identity.

If you bring items to return at the same time they must be placed in the book drop at the door.  Please do not hand items to staff. Please note that returned items will be quarantined for at least 96 hours and will continue to show up on your account during that time until they are checked in.

Library staff will be wearing masks and we request that you wear a mask since maintaining a social distance of at least 6′ may not be possible during pickup.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us.  Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you!

Is the library building open?

As of September 8, we have expanded our hours and are scheduling 15 or 30-minute appointments on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during our open hours for you to come in and use a computer or browse items.  Call or email us for details or to schedule your appointment.

Are library materials safe?

NPL is following safety guidelines set forth by the American Library Association and the REALM Project. Items are quarantined for at least 96 hours and our staff wears gloves and masks when handling library materials.

Can I return items when I pickup my order?

Sure. In fact, we’d love for you to return items in a timely fashion so others can enjoy them. (Especially since they must be quarantined for 96 hours before they are available again.) However, items can only be returned at the book drop in the door. Please do not hand items to staff.

Can I order books from other libraries?

Yes! As of July 20 inter-library loan delivery within the Finger Lakes Library System is up and running. Many thanks to all the folks who made this possible, especially Tom our delivery driver!
