Curbside Service is now available! Here’s how it works:

The first step is to place your order using one of the following methods:

  • Visit our website and select “Books, Movies, and More” from the menu, then Catalog.  Detailed instructions for how to place a hold including a video can be found here.
  • Email your list to us at newfieldlibrary@gmail.com
  • Call us at 607-564-3594 Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Items from other libraries cannot be ordered at this time unless you want to drive to that library to pick it up.  If you want to be placed in the queue for an item to be delivered when the inter-library loan service resumes you can call or email us to place the hold for you.

Looking for ideas?  We will be displaying many of our new items in the front window for you to browse.

As we prepare your order you may receive email or text notifications that your hold request is ready and that someone will be contacting you.  Once your order is ready we will contact you to schedule a pickup during one of the following times:

  • Mon 10:00 am-Noon, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Tue and Wed 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Thu 2:00 pm-6:30 pm

We are happy to make special arrangements if these times do not work for you.

On the day of your scheduled pickup time you may receive email or text notification that your items have been checked out.  When you arrive at the scheduled time you should call 607-564-3594 from your vehicle or the sidewalk if you walked.  If you do not have a cell phone you can knock on the door and someone will assist you.  Please open your trunk or door so a staff member can place your bag in your vehicle.  You may be asked to show your library card or driver’s license to confirm your identity.

If you bring items to return at the same time they must be placed in the book drop at the door.  Please do not hand items to staff. Please note that returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours and will continue to show up on your account during that time until they are checked in.

Library staff will be wearing masks and we request that you wear a mask since maintaining a social distance of at least 6′ may not be possible during pickup.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us.  Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you!

FAQs:

Is the library building open?

No, the library building will not be open to the public during curbside pickup hours.

Are library materials safe?

NPL is following safety guidelines set forth by the American Library Association. Items are quarantined for 72 hours and our staff wears gloves and masks when handling library materials.

Can I return items when I pickup my order?

Sure. In fact, we’d love for you to return items in a timely fashion so others can enjoy them. (Especially since they must be quarantined for 72 hours before they are available again.) However, items can only be returned at the book drop in the door. Please do not hand items to staff.

Can I order books from other libraries?

The Finger Lakes Library System is not doing deliveries between libraries at this time. However, you can order a book from another library in the system if you go to that library to pick it up.
